About The Tea

*Milagro de la Selva Tea

Herbal Composition: Smilax Dominigensis, Tecoma Stans.

Milagro de la Selva tea is a Mayan medicine widely dispensed by native herbalists composed of two herbal plants that grow in the lush rain forest of Guatemala and Southern territories of México. The plants that compose this tea have been widely dispensed by native herbalists (shamans) dating back to the Mayan civilization who inhabited the area over 2,000 years ago.

The National University of Costa Rica (a government sponsored University) extensively investigated this combination of herbs and found them to be totally non-toxic. In the study, they also concluded: the tea is not simply hypoglycemic, but it also works by reducing the absorption of glycogen at the intestinal level; it also participates in the destruction of free radicals (cell damagers) and supports detoxification (getting rid of waste products) of the body through the kidneys. All together, this herb combination has been shown to be an excellent kidney cleanser (the kidneys actually start functioning normally again!).

Primarily, it was proven as a food supplement that offers great relief for the support of Normalizing Glucose Metabolism.

Patients have seen an improvement of the symptoms associated with diabetes in as little as 48 hours although for some it may take longer. Individual results may vary.

Pharmacology:
The ethnological extract of the bark is active against S. Aureus. The decoction of the bark has a diuretic effect without causing significant elimination of sodium, potassium or uric acid. The fresh extract, the alcohol-based extract and the infusion of the stems improve glucose tolerance and reduce the level of glucose before breakfast. Changes have been observed in insulin levels; it is believed that these changes are related to metabolism of the hepatic glycogen through activating glucogenolisis.

Clinical Properties - The Mexican pharmacopoeia assigns eupeptic properties and suggests its usage for the treatment of gastrointestinal atony and gastritis.

Since the end of the nineteenth century, clinical studies done by distinguished doctors have corroborated the use of these plants for diabetes, in conjunction with an adequate diet. The watery extract and the infusion administered orally and subcutaneously have demonstrated anti-diabetic activity in adult patients.

Additional Benefits:
In the third quarter of 2005 Dr. Nery Flores, from the Houston Medical Center in the U.S.A., tested the efficacy of the Milagro de la Selva tea on 14 patients with high levels of cholesterol and high levels of triglycerides.

This was a pilot mini-study, without a control group. To everybody's surprise (except ours), Total Cholesterol levels dropped more than 40 mg/dl average per patient, and Triglyceride levels dropped 35 mg/dl average per patient. This study was conducted over a 2-month period. It is important to note that there were no undesirable side-effects. All patients reported that they felt better, more energetic, and enjoyed an over-all improved sense of well-being.

Dr. Nery Flores from the Houston Medical Center concludes that Milagro de la Selva tea also provides great support for cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
